Guru Rinpoche, or Padmasambhava ( the Lotus Born) is the direct emanation of Buddha Shakyamuni. Guru Rinpoche is the founder of the Nyingma and the Master of the Tantras. By the request of King Trisong Detsun, Guru Rinpoche came to tibet, subdued the local spirits, who were obstructing the construction of the Samye monastery and turned them all into guardians of the Dharma. Guru Rinpoche is also known as the "Second Buddha of our Time"
