Jangchup Chorten: Enlighten Stupa
Jangchup Chorten which translates to Enlighten Stupa. Jangchup Chorten is known as "Stupa of the Conquest of Mara". This stupa symbolizes the 35-year-old Buddha’s attainment of enlightenment under the bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya. After sitting in meditation for 49 days under a tree at Bodhgaya, King Siddhartha attained enlightenment, and understood the true nature of all things. He realized that, like him, all beings without exception have the same potential for enlightenment.
The steps of the stupa are rectangular and undecorated.This stupa symbolizes the full development of mind, the state of a Buddha. It was built by the Dharma king Bimbisara, honoring Buddha’s enlightenment in Bodhgaya. On the evening before reaching enlightenment, Buddha Shakyamuni removed the last subtle veils and obstacles in his mind, which is also represented in this stupa.
This beautiful stupa is handmade in Nepal. Hollow inside to fill up with consecration. Opens from the bottom.
