Iron Phurba with Horse head. Phurba also known as Kila in Sanskrit is a dagger with three sided peg which represents removal of obstacles, negative energy and obscuration. This is a one of a kind Hayagriva Phurba that is hand carved from an iron rod.

The kīla or the Phurba  is one of many iconographic representations of divine "symbolic attributes". When consecrated and bound for usage,  the kīla/phurba  are a Nirmanakaya manifestation of Vajrakīlaya.

  • Wrathful Activity: Phurbas made of iron are primarily used for "wrathful" practices, which in a Buddhist context means the forceful, compassionate destruction of deep-seated obstacles, delusions, and negative forces that impede spiritual progress.
  • Repelling Spirits and Ghosts: Iron is traditionally believed to be a powerful nemesis of malevolent spirits, ghosts, and negative energies. For rituals involving exorcism or purifying a place of negative influences, iron is the material of choice.
  • Indestructible Nature: The material's strength and durability symbolize the "indestructible vajra-nature" of the wisdom and power of the Buddhas. This is crucial for an implement meant to definitively cut through ignorance and negative forces.
