Prayer Beads (Mala Beads) may be worn as power beads to enhance qualities and for protection. Prayer Beads are called Malas and are used for reciting Buddhist mantra, praying for the benefit of all beings and World Peace. Malas have 108 beads representing the Buddhas, with a Guru Bead at the end. They are held in the left hand and rotated clockwise as you recite mantra. Smaller malas are used for doing prostrations as a means of purifying the 5 mental poisons of pride, ignorance, anger, jealousy, and desire. Mala counters are for keeping a count of how many rounds you have completed.
